IOWA CITY, Iowa - Firefighters in Iowa City spent part of their Sunday morning at the scene of a fire above the the Hamburg Inn on at 214 North Linn Street. The Iowa City Fire Department was dispatched to the scene around 4:20 Sunday morning.
Firfighters were met with heavy smoke on the first floor of the building as well as when entering the second floor. Everyone inside the second floor apartments escaped and were not hurt.
Fire crews say the it started in the basement of the scrutcutre and spread to the rest of the building. Officials say the fire caused about $30,000 in damages to the building. The cause of the fire is still underinvestigation.
