WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — The annual Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade has drawn nearly 500 old tractors and even more drivers eager for a chance to swap stories and take rumbling, low-speed trips in the Waterloo area.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports the three-day event, organized each year by Cedar Rapids radio station WMT, began Monday at the Cattle Congress grounds in Waterloo. Participants were able to talk with other tractor enthusiasts, check out the machines and drive single-file on rural roads through nearby towns and to other attractions.
On Monday, the procession drove through Denver, Waverly and Janesville. Tuesday's route includes a pass through the John Deere plant as well as through Dike and New Hartford. On Wednesday, the tractors will head to Black Hawk County Park.
