MIDDLE AMANA, Iowa — For those with a creative touch, the Amana Arts Guild sponsored the Festival of the Arts today at Middle Amana Park.
It’s an event to showcase the works of local artists. From woodcrafting, photography to quilting, their creations caught the eyes of many.
One couple from Cedar Falls didn’t know anything about the festival today, but just came across it as they were driving and loved it.
“This is a wonderful experience,” Norm Gerdes said. “We stumbled on this quite by surprise. We have a little convertible and we’re out touring around, headed toward the Amanas and just stumbled onto the arts festival in the area.”
His wife, Cheryl Gerdes, said, “It’s just a piece of Iowa out here. It’s so pleasant. A good variety of artists and some wonderful food.”
They had brats, homemade apple fritters and other baked goods available for visitors.
Kids were also able to work in the art corner to make their own crafts.
