DES MOINES, Iowa - On the April 30 Agribusiness Report: spring rain is keeping farmers across the state out of the fields. The latest statewide crop report showed that only 3 days last week were suitable for planting.
And a recent crop progress report shows just 15% of the state’s corn crop has been planted. That number is less than half of the national five-year average at this time. And local market analysts says the slow start to the season isn’t only being felt in Iowa.
