Waukon senior Parker Hesse had a monster season, gaining more than 2,700 combined rushing and passing yards with 40 touchdowns. He helped lead the Indians to the 2A state title game, where they lost in a heart breaker.

"I think one day we'll look back and take more pride in what we did accomplish," he said. "But we did want that one, and nothing's going to change that."

Hesse verbally committed last month to play linebacker for the Hawkeyes.

"I realize there are so many kids across the state that dream about this, and I'm lucky I'm going to get to live out the dream."
