First and foremost John is what you call a sports addict. Secondly, he is the newest member of the KCRG Sports team, officially joining TV9 in September of 2006. John, who grew up in Des Moines, IA, truly bleeds black and gold. He graduated from the University of Iowa in May of 2004, from there it was off to get his career in broadcasting started.

John’s first job was down in Jefferson City, MO at KRCG (Yes, Ironic isn’t it?), as a sports reporter. It was in Missouri that John realized broadcasting sports was what he loved and what he wanted to do. Even though they’re not his favorite team John was lucky enough to cover the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series, despite the fact they were swept handily by the Red Sox.

After spending a year in Missouri, John headed north to Sioux City, IA to become the Weekend Sports Anchor at KMEG TV. After a 1 year stint in Sioux City it was back to Eastern Iowa to join KCRG.

According to John, he has the dream job of all sports lovers. “I’m being paid to watch, attend, talk about, and cover all types of sports, who wouldn’t love this job?”

While not running around with a camera and microphone covering sports in Eastern Iowa, John enjoys playing golf, spending time with his family and friends, cheering on the Hawkeyes (his alma-mater), watching his beloved Chicago Bears, and most importantly spending time with his beautiful wife Maria and their wonderful newborn baby girl Adrienne. Adrienne was born on Sunday January 16th, 2011.

They’re also kept busy at home taking care of their dog Bob, the beagle, and wild cat Belle.
