Des Moines-The bid for three state titles has come to an end for the Solon Spartans. Fort Dodge St Edmond beat the Spartans 8-4 in 9 innings Thursday night at Principal Park in Des Moines.
Cody Strang hit a monster homerun to get the Spartans going, but pitching and errors cost them dearly. FD scored 4 runs in the 9th to end the Spartans dream of being football, basketball and baseball state champs.
