Martelle-Kurt Vavricek loves basketball, but getting the hay in while the weather is good comes first. Vavricek, a senior to be on the Anamosa basketball team, needs to finish his farm work so he can fly to Austria on Saturday as part of the U.S. team that will play in the World Sports Festival. Vavricek made the team based on an interview and hoops tryout. He says he is looking forward joining his new teammates, playing teams from all over Europe, and getting to see some of the sights.

Until he leaves, Kurt Vavricek will be tossing bales.
