Koch Takes MVC Player of the Week Honors

CEDAR FALLS -- University of Northern Iowa junior Jake Koch has been named the Missouri Valley Conference men's basketball Player of the Week following his performances in UNI victories over Iowa and Milwaukee.
Koch averaged 17 points/game, handed out 4.5 assists/game, grabbed 4.5 rebounds/game, shot 47.4 percent from the field, 60.0 percent from 3-point land and was a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line in leading UNI to wins over Iowa (80-60) and Milwaukee (67-51).
He scored 13 points, dished out six assists, blocked two shots and had a steal in the 80-60 win over Iowa and followed that up with a season-high 21 points in a 67-51 win over Milwaukee on Saturday. Against the Panthers, he was 6-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point land. Koch made all six free throws against Milwaukee.
The Panthers return to game action on Dec. 19 when they host Loras at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
