CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- It's up to UNI's defense to shut down the two-time defending national champions on Saturday.

"It's gonna be a physical game. [We] gotta win the turnover battle," linebacker Jake Farley said.

And in his second year in the program, Farley is starting to feel comfortable in the defense.

"I can just play, and not think about it," he said.

His skills come from his dad, head coach and former UNI linebacker Mark Farley, who Jake said "taught me everything about playing linebacker."

But since he has improved, his dad actually watches him less. At least until the next day.

"I actually watch for weaknesses in the defense, and I'm seeing Jake less," Mark Farley said. "Sunday morning, you try to watch the defense but your eyes start to wander to see how he's doing."

On defense, all eyes have been on Jake. He's won defensive player of the week twice already this season.

"Jake's fitting well within our defense," Mark Farley said.
