Volleyball: UNI Sweeps Its Way To Round Of 32

OMAHA, Neb. - UNI 3, K-STATE 0 — Northern Iowa advanced to the second round a second straight season with the sweep at Lincoln, Neb.-- Krista DeGeest, Megan Lehman and Macy Ubben each had 11 kills for the Panthers. DeGeest had a .588 attack percentage, and Lehman was at .450. Molly Turk recorded 36 assists and led in digs for the first time with 14. Former Mount Vernon prep Shelby Kintzel had six kills.

The Panthers play host Nebraska Friday at 7 in NU Coliseum, the last match to be played in the historic venue.

No. 4 Nebraska swept the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks in the second match of the first round. Gina Mancuso led Nebraska with 12 kills and a .435 attack percentage. Hannah Werth followed with 11 kills and a team leading .667 attack percentage. Lauren Cook notched 34 assists and Werth led the Huskers with 9 digs. Nebraska had an overall .455 hitting percentage on the night. The Panthers are 1-7 overall in second-round matches in the NCAA tournament.

The winner of Friday's match will advance to the Sweet 16 in Omaha Dec. 7-8 against the winner of the Central Arkansas/Washington and Hawaii/Santa Clara matches.

Northern Iowa is looking to advance to its fourth Sweet 16 appearance.
