WICHITA, Kan. The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team dropped an 80-47 decision to the Wichita State Shockers on Saturday night. UNI is now 7-9 overall and 3-2 in Missouri Valley Conference play.

UNI was led by Brittni Donaldson who finished with nine points against the Shockers. Hannah Schonhardt added seven and six rebounds while Stephanie Davison notched six points off two three-pointers.

Wichita State jumped out on a 12-2 run over the Panthers to start the game with Michelle Price coming up with six of the Shockers' point. Jen Keitel scored UNI's first points of the game and Schonhardt added two free throws to make the score 12-4 at the 15:58 mark in the first half.

The Shockers held a double-digit lead with 12:54 left in the half. UNI then got a spark from Davison's big three-pointer and went on a 6-0 run to cut the score to 22-16. UNI was then able to cut the lead down even more when Donaldson hit another trey to make the score 24-19 with 8:38 on the clock.

UNI chipped the WSU lead down to just two points after Madison Weekly dove for a ball out of bounds and sent a pass to a streaking Donaldson for an easy fast-break layup to make the score 29-27 with less than two minutes remaining. Wichita State was able to knock down two three-pointers in the final 1:30 of the first half to take a 35-27 lead heading into halftime.

The Shockers opened the second half on an 11-0 run to take a 46-27 lead before Schonhardt hit a jump shot to end the run and make the score 46-29. WSU was able to turn it into an 18-2 run before Schonhardt was fouled hard in the lane and converted on a free throw to make the score 53-30.

UNI's bench players got quality playing time in the last 10 minutes of the game, but the Panthers were unable to cut down the WSU lead, eventually falling 80-47.
