UNI Falls On The Road at George Mason

FAIRFAX, Virginia - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team lost their afternoon match against George Mason, 76-70.

UNI was behind 19-11 nearly halfway into the first half. Sophomore guard Matt Bohannon would go on a 7-0 run converting two free throws, making a breakaway layup and knocking down a three-pointer. The Panthers would have the game tied at 19 with just under seven minutes left in the half and would go into halftime trailing the Patriots 30-29.

After the intermission the Panthers were behind 64-63 with 2:52 remaining. The half was largely back-and-forth however George Mason would go on a 12-7 run to seal the win.

Matt Bohannon led the Panthers with 19 points. Seth Tuttle provided the Panthers with 17 and added 7 rebounds before fouling out with just under 3 minutes left. Chip Rank scored 14 points off the bench and Deon Mitchell chipped in 12 points.

NOTES: The Panthers were 24 of 28 from the free throw line, good for a season high percentage of 86. UNI was out-rebounded by the Patriots 35 to 24. UNI will be back in action beginning Friday, Nov. 22nd at the Paradise Jam Tournament in the Virgin Islands. The Panthers are set to take on Loyola-Maramount in the first round.
