UIU's Wrestling Newcomers Ranked Among Nation's Best

FAYETTE, Iowa - Upper Iowa’s wrestling program continues to be regarded as one of the top programs in the nation even during the offseason. Head Coach Heath Grimm has led the Peacocks to back-to-back NCAA Team Trophies thanks to the help of National Champions Travis Eggers and Trevor Franklin, not to mention nine All-Americans in the last two years. The Peacocks were recognized for having the 10th best recruiting class for Non-NCAA Division I institutions in the September issue of Wrestling USA Magazine.

Upper Iowa returns six of their seven National Qualifiers from a year ago including National Champion Trevor Franklin (125 pounds), two-time All-American Kyle Pedretti, and 2011 All-Americans Carl Broghammer (3rd place) and Mitch Schultz (6th place).

The Peacocks open their 2011-12 campaign at the Loras Open in Dubuque, Iowa on Nov. 5. The team’s first home dual comes on Nov. 29 as they welcome the Warriors of Waldorf College to Dorman Gymnasium.
