Top-Ranked UNI Wrestler Colon Chasing First National Championship

CEDAR FALLS -- The NCAA wrestling championships start next week and one wrestler to watch out for is UNI's Joe Colon.

He's ranked No. 1 in the nation at 133 pounds. After his Mid-American Conference Championship last week, Colon is ready to chase his first national title

Colon has just one loss on the season, and what propelled him to his top national ranking was the Midlands Championship, where he pinned Iowa's Tony Ramos.

"I've been top-ranked before, in high school and JUCO," he said. "I've had the number one next to my name before. I like it, because then I know I have a target on my back and I can't rest because all the guys behind me are coming for my spot."
