Iowa City-Lance Tillison wanted to play defensive back, the Hawks were suggesting a move to linebacker. That scenario after the 2008 season didn't set will with Tillison so he left the program. There was a brief stay with Texas Southern last summer, but Tillison soon realized what he had given up, had a change of mind, and returned to Iowa last January. He has accepted the linebacker role and the coaching staff has accepted him. Tillison is playing without his athletic scholarship.
