CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids father and son share more than the same last name. When it comes to position and number, it has been like father like son for the Schulte family.
Reggie Schulte, Xavier quarterback, is almost done with a successful senior year with the Saints, ending his high school football career.
Duane Schulte, a former Xavier quarterback himself, has been working with Reggie since the fourth grade. Schulte senior sported the number 11 back in 1979, when Xavier won the ECIC.
Now, his son Reggie wears the the number and hopes it will bring his team to victory in the state championship.
This Friday's game will mark the last time the Schulte's will team up on the football field.
Xavier plays Ankeny at 7 p.m. Friday night in the UNI dome. KCRG 9. 2 will have it live.
