DYERSVILLE, Iowa – It’s tradition with a fresh twist.

For the third consecutive season, the Dyersville Beckman football team has advanced to the Iowa Class 2A state quarterfinals.

Last season, it was the Trailblazers speed on offense that torched defensive units all the way to the state semifinals. This season, the No. 7-ranked Blazers are creating their own footsteps toward the UNI-Dome.

The speed in 2012 lies especially on the Blazers’ defensive unit. Beckman held New Hampton to 115 total yards of offense and collected six sacks for 41 yards lost in a 21-0 shutout in a Class 2A second-round playoff game at Beckman High School.

Beckman (10-1) advanced to host Waukon (9-2) on Friday with a return trip to the state semifinals on the line.
