RoughRiders' Petrash Overcomes Challenges

By Josh Christensen, TV9 Sports

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The RoughRiders have won their last two games and one player who's made some key contributions is forward Corey Petrash. He's in his first season in the USHL and is already making an impact.

His rights were traded to the RoughRiders last season from Tri-City and head coach Mark Carlson knew Petrash would fit right into his system. But getting to Cedar Rapids was a challenge for Corey this year. He and his dad drove down from Winnipeg to make it for fall training-camp, but they were stopped at the border because of visa issues. Corey was not allowed to cross the border and was turned away, but a couple of weeks later he was allowed to cross.

Since his arrival, Corey has 14 points, leads the team with a +4 rating and is a key contributor on the power play
