CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Deon Mitchell leads the UNI Panthers at 61 assists this season. The Pflugerville, Texas native says that his strengths are driving to the basket and finding his open teammates. He told me that he wants to be more consistent with his game, as well.
Mitchell didn't start for two games earlier this season because he missed the bus to a shootaround. He told me that he got the time mixed up and was 15 minutes late. So, he wants to be more accountable and responsible. He also says that he wants to work on his defense more.
A fun fact: Deon says that he tries to model his game after Chris Paul. But he says that he's not a Clippers fan. He prefers the Knicks.
