Minnesota Wild AHL Affiliate Coming to Des Moines

The American Hockey League Board of Governors approved Thursday the relocation of the Houston Aeros to Des Moines beginning the 2013-14 season. The new club will be known as the Iowa Wild, according to a report in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Des Moines had an AHL club from 2005 through 2009. The Iowa Stars were affiliated with the Dallas Stars and Iowa Chops affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks.

The new team is affiliated with the Minnesota Wild.
