CORALVILLE - 8 year old gymnast Adeline Kenlin was recently selected to the USA Gymnastics Tops National team.
Only 40, 8-11 year olds throughout the country made the elite squad. Adeline is considered one of the top 8 year olds in the country.
Adeline was adopted from China when she was just 14 months old. At that time she weighed under 16 pounds, and was very malnourished. Doctors said they hoped she would one day 'grow in to her skin.'
Her mother, Sara Sanders, says she was doing cartwheels at the age of 2 1/2 and back handsprings at the age of 4.
At 4 feet tall and just 45 pounds she has a drive that most 8 year olds don't have.
Adeline's goal, pretty simple. "Olympics," she says.
