Kohawks 12th in final NFCA Poll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe softball team was one of three Iowa Conference schools to finish the season in the NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Kohawks were ranked 12th, spending the final 12 weeks of the season ranked in the poll.
After receiving votes for the poll the first two weeks of the season, the Kohawks entered the poll at 24th in week three. Coe climbed all the way to number seven in the rankings, where they spent three weeks at. The Kohawks had a six-week stretch of being ranked in the Top 10 in the nation entering the NCAA Tournament.
The Kohawks finished the season 38-11 and placed third in the NCAA Pella Regional. Coe's first loss at the regional came to Linfield, whom went on to win the NCAA Division III National Championships.
Coe will return seven position players and ace pitcher Ashlee Simon (Riverside, Iowa/Highland) for next season. Also returning for the Kohawks will be NFCA Second Team All-American Abby Flannagan (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware), along with All-Iowa Conference selections Ashley Hood (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) and Brandi Haight (Coralville, Iowa/West).
