CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The big gun is officially gone.
Cowart, 20, hit .293 in 66 games for the Kernels, with nine home runs and 54 RBIs. He went 0-for-2 in Tuesday night’s Midwest League All-Star Game.
The RBI total ranks second in the MWL, which begins second-half play Friday. The Kernels host the Beloit Snappers at 6:35 p.m.
No corresponding player move was immediately announced by the Angels, so the Kernels are at 24 active players, one shy of maximum.
