CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Cedar Rapids Kennedy girls' basketball team is one of the top teams in Class 5A right now. The Cougars are ranked 8th and getting contributions from everyone on the team.

The Cougars are 7-1 and coming off a huge win over Cedar Rapids Washington last week.

"We learned that we do have potential," senior Jordan Holmes said. "We're very confident, but to see us do it was a big help."

"When we're playing really well, I think we can play with anybody in the state of Iowa," coach Tony Vis said.

The Cougars' balanced scoring attack averages 63 points per game and features three players averaging double figures. Much of their scoring comes from their two post players: Junior Stephanie Botkin and senior Morgan Martin.

"We know if our outside shooters are off, we can just feed it to the post," Holmes said. "And if we're on, they can feed it to us."
