STATE COLLEGE, Pa. –Iowa overcame a sluggish first-half performance to work past Penn State 82-70 Saturday at Bryce Jordan Center.

The Hawkeyes trailed by two at halftime and then later 44-42 with 12:13 left in the game. But the Hawkeyes rallied with a 16-4 run that included 3-pointers from Devyn Marble and Mike Gesell to put the Hawkeyes up 58-48.

No. 15 Iowa moves to 19-6 (8-4 Big Ten) while Penn State falls to 13-13 (4-9 Big Ten). Melsahn Basabe scored 16 points, Marble 15, Aaron White 14 and Gesell 13.

Marble now has scored in double digits in every Big Ten game, the only player to do so.

Penn State’s D.J. Newbill led all scorers with 22 points. Iowa was 7-of-19 from 3-point range and 31-of-40 from the free-throw line.
