BLOOMINGTON, Indiana - Tuesday night's Iowa-Indiana men's basketball game at Assembly Hall in Bloomington has been postponed after a metal facing plate fell from the ceiling at Assembly Hall, damaging seats in the arena below.

Structural engineers are concerned about the possibility of another incident, according to preliminary reports.

Roughly 6 1/2 hours before game time, a metal facing (roughly eight feet long by 14 inches wide), fell and damaged seats in the lower part of Section F, which is located in the northwest corner of the building.

"Safety is our No.1 priority," noted Indiana University Athletics Director Fred Glass. "Our University engineers have advised us to postpone events in Assembly Hall until it can be determined what caused the facing to fall and ensure the safety of everyone attending an event in the facility."

Assembly Hall is in the midst of renovation.

No new date has yet been set for the game.
