IOWA CITY, Iowa - Former Iowa City West basketball player Dondre Alexander will play next season at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Mo.

Alexander has previously signed with Southern Mississippi.

A 6-foot-4 guard, Alexander averaged 10 points per game last season, but quit the team toward the end of a bizarre season.

He was suspended for three games after verbally assaulting Davenport Assumption coach Joe Barrer following a last-second West win in the season opener in November. He was suspended a second time after he was witnessed in a downtown Iowa City bar.

Shortly after that, he quit the team.

“Dondre is another big guard who is strong and explosive,” said State Farm Coach Kevin Thomas. “He is very athletic and should be able to score for us and guard multiple positions.”
