IOWA CITY — Iowa City High’s hopes of upsetting No. 2 Iowa City West melted with the Trojans’ 19-2 start last night at West.

The Trojans (15-2, 11-1 MVC) were never threatened in a 71-41 victory. City won the first game, 70-34, and the two are in the same substate.

“Our game plan was to stay a lot closer in the first quarter,” said City’s Mitch Wieland, who scored 10 points. “But obviously that didn’t happen. It’s hard to come back from a deficit that big and only score two points in the first quarter, but we responded a lot better.”
