IOWA CITY Iowa finished with its best non-conference record since 2004-05 after dispatching Coppin State 80-50 Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes (11-2) dominated throughout the game. Iowa used a 17-2 run early to take a 24-9 lead. Iowa streaked to a 40-14 halftime advantage and coasted in the second half.
Aaron White led the Hawkeyes with 20 points and was 7-of-8 from the floor. Gabe Olaseni added 14 points. Anthony Clemmons had nine assists.
Iowa hit 31 of 60 shots from the floor but missed all 17 3-point attempts. The Hawkeyes outrebounded Coppin State 54-29.
The Hawkeyes are off until Dec. 31 when they play host to Indiana to open the Big Ten campaign.
