CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Former Linn-Mar star Kiah Stokes is sidelined with a stress reaction in her shin, reports the New Haven (Conn.) Register.
Stokes is a backup center for the second-ranked University of Connecticut women’s basketball team. A sophomore who is tied for the team lead with 12 blocked shots, Stokes complained about the pain in her right shin shortly after a Dec. 6 game against Penn State. According to the report, Stokes will miss tonight’s game against Oakland, and hopes to be back in time for the Dec. 29 game against No. 1 Stanford. Stokes underwent ankle surgery following her freshman season. This season, she has played in all eight games, averaging 12.4 minutes per game. She is averaging 2.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Connecticut is 8-0. |
