CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Iowa football team signed five players from the state of Iowa, including four from Eastern Iowa. Two of those signees were Xavier's Matt Nelson and Waukon's Parker Hesse.

Nelson will play defensive end, and Hesse will play special teams. Both players helped their teams get to the state championship game in their respective classes this season, and they're excited to play for the Hawkeyes

"There are so many kids across the state that dream of this," Hesse said. "I'm going to get to see what it's like, and I'm really excited."

"This makes it real. I'm finally going to be a Hawkeye," Nelson said. "This is the moment I've been waiting for ever since I committed."
