CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Northern Iowa linebacker Jake Farley broke both bones in his lower leg on Saturday during the Panthers' 24-23 loss to North Dakota State.

Head coach Mark Farley, Jake's father, addressed the injury on Monday.

"He didn't have any ligament tears, any joint problems. He just broke both bones in his lower leg," Mark Farley said. "In fact, he was laying on the ground out there and I said, 'What happened?' He goes, 'I broke my leg.'

"He handled it better than a lot of people do, so I'll give him credit."
