IOWA CITY — Underdog Iowa City West cut top-ranked Iowa City High’s comfortable 20-point lead to an uncomfortable eight points early in the fourth quarter last night at West, but then the Little Hawks went to a Code Blue.

That activated a defense that turns the opposition’s offense blue, and the Little Hawks went on to win, 58-42, at the West gym.

City High improved to 20-0 and 12-0 in the Mississippi Valley Conference. The Women of Troy are 8-10, 6-6. The 16-point margin was the same as in the first meeting in early January.

City led 41-21 before Jessie Harder hit a 3-pointer to start the West run at the end of the third period. West outscored City 14-2 to cut the lead to 43-35 with 4:57 left.
