Vinton-Merle Horak of rural Vinton knows his way around the Cedar River near Vinton. He likes to fish for walleyes, but he has been known to put a few channel cats in the cooler too.

Stink bait is his bait of choice when going after Mr Whiskers. Wednesday it worked just fine as he nailed a couple of nice ones near the river bank. Merle then moved to a deeper hole in the middle of the river. Bingo! His nicest fish of the two hour outing. It measured out at 20 1/2 inches. As Merle said, "They are all nice ones."
