IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Hawkeye basketball team's bench played a big role on Tuesday against Notre Dame.

The Hawkeyes' bench outscored Notre Dame's 38-7. Jefferson grad Jarrod Uthoff had 17 points, and senior Zach McCabe had 10 points, both playing significant second-half minutes.

The players feel when the bench can score like that, opposing teams will have a tough time figuring out who to guard.

"We're 11 or 12 guys deep," center Gabe Olaseni said. "I feel like coach has trusted everyone. He can play a lot of different lineups. Once we get everyone clicking, I feel as though we're unstoppable."
