The Carolina Panthers have signed former Iowa wide receiver Marvin McNutt and put him on their active roster. McNutt had been on the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins.

McNutt is Iowa’s all-time single-season leader in receiving yards (1,315) and touchdown receptions (12), and is the Hawkeyes’ career-leader in both with 2,861 and 28. He was a sixth-round draft choice of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012. He spent most of last season on the Eagles’ practice squad, but was activated for the final four regular-season games/

He signed as a free agent with the Dolphins after the season, and was placed on the practice squad after Miami’s last round of roster cuts in training camp.

Carolina also signed former Iowa linebacker Jeff Tarpinian to its practice squad. Tarpinian played in a total of 10 regular-season games for the New England Patriots in 2011 and 2012.
