IOWA CITY - Jarryd Cole stuck it out through some tough years in the Iowa basketball program. Cole played 3 years under Todd Lickliter and 1 under current Head Coach Fran McCaffery. While battling injuries in college Cole never complained. Now he’s trying to make his professional dreams come true.

Cole spent last year playing professionally in Iceland. He averaged 21 points 10 rebounds a game and now is headed to a larger, better league in France. The power forward has more big news for next year. He will be getting married. Jarryd is engaged to current Hawkeye basketball player Trisha Nesbitt. Nesbitt will be a Senior PG this year for Lisa Bluder’s squad. The two have been dating for a little over 2 years.

Jarryd said he ‘choked’ a bit while popping the question to Trisha (he wrote and read her a poem) but he did it, and it was a complete surprise to Trisha. Nesbitt will finish out her Senior year of college while Jarryd plays in France. The two will then be married on June 15th of 2013 and then head out to wherever Jarryd’s professional career takes them.
