Big Red Blues Continue for Hawkeye Women

IOWA CITY — The largest women’s basketball crowd of the season assembled Saturday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Fueled by the energy of hundreds of Girl Scouts in the south end of the arena, it got loud during introductions. Really loud.
The decibels never reached that level after the ball was tipped.
No. 23 Nebraska seized control with a 14-0 run midway through the first half, and defeated Iowa for the seventh straight time, 80-67, in a Big Ten battle in front of 8,021.
“I just don’t have a lot of positive things to say about the game,” said Hawkeyes Coach Lisa Bluder, who was denied in her bid to reach C. Vivian Stringer’s 269 career wins at Iowa.
“They’re a good team. They ran the ball extremely well.”
