Lansing-As the water temps go down, the bass fishing normally heats up on the Mississippi. Terry Fitzpatrick says the largemouth really turn on when the water hits 55 degrees.
It certainly wasn't 55 degrees on Tuesday, but the bass were hitting. Fitzpatrick caught numerous largemouth in some backwater lily pads.
Then it was out to the main channel where smallies like the current created by the wing dams. Fitzpatrick says they sit there and wait for food to be washed their way.
Using a top water lure that imitated a wounded shad, Fitzpatrick got several smallies to hammer the bait. He landed one smallie that was over three pounds.
Terry Fitzpatrick knows what he is doing. He is the same Terry Fitzpatrick who finished 17th in last years Bass Masters Classic.
