Dubuque-Dan Duclos of Dubuque tried a top surface frog lure in the lily pads, tube jigs on the rocks but in the end, it was the trusty white jig that attracted the largemouth bass in the pool above the dam in Dubuque.

An east wind and recent fish fly hatch were working against Duclos, but he still managed to catch 6 largemouth in a two hour period. The largest was close to three pounds.

Dan thinks the fishing will continue to improve and he is looking forward to August and September when he says the smallie action really picks up.
