Lake Red Rock-Mike Ryan of Tiffin and Elmer Beckler of Oxford know the Coralville Reservoir like the backs of their hands. Now they are getting to know Lake Red Rock and liking what they see.

One week ago they were drifting for channel cats. Shad the bait of choice and it didn't take long for the action to begin. Ryan believes the moving bait entices the catfish to attack.

We were working in about 11 to 13 feet of water and getting 4 pounders on a regular basis. An 8 pounder also decided to get in on the action.

Also getting some valuable experience were Tyler Jensen of Williamsburg and Jonathan Steinkruger of Keokuk. They couldn't learn from two better anglers that Mike and Elmer.
