Zach Johnson started strong on his front nine Friday at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, making three birdies and firing 33. At the turn – Johnson started on the back nine – he was just two shots back of Sergio Garcia. But Johnson made back-to-back bogeys on his 15th and 16th holes (Nos. 6 and 7), and dropped to 1-under-par (71) for his second round. Those were just Johnson’s second and third bogeys of the week. The Cedar Rapids native is 7-under, four shots back of Garcia and three shots back of Tiger Woods.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Sergio Garcia torched the TPC Sawgrass course with a 7-under 65 and is the midway leader at The Players Championship by one shot over Tiger Woods, who shot a second-round 65. Lee Westwood is among four golfers just two shots off the lead.
