MONTICELLO, Iowa - Cross country runner Michael Melchert is this week's winner of the Cedar Rapids Toyota Scion KCRG-TV9 Athlete of the Week award, which is chosen weekly by you, the fans.

Melchert, the top runner on the nation's best cross country team - in schools of 500 or less students, has yet to lose in 2012, but had some trouble with a lightning fast dog in the video above.

Scott Saville talked to Melchert about his season, and set up the match race.
