New Signal Caller for Cyclones

By KCRG Sports

AMES, Iowa (AP) - Junior college transfer Steele Jantz rolled
into Ames from California this winter looking every bit the savior
Iowa State was looking for.
Jantz, the 6-foot-3 quarterback with tremendous stats for City
College of San Francisco in 2010, appeared by many to be the
prohibitive favorite to take over for Austen Arnaud the moment he
signed his letter of intent.
Don't look for Cyclones coach Paul Rhoads to guarantee anything
to any of quarterbacks, though. Jantz and the three signal callers
he's competing with will have to prove they can be difference
makers to see the field in 2011.
Rhoads says the Cyclones, who start spring practice Tuesday,
need better play at quarterback next season. The group includes
Jantz, Jerome Tiller, James Capello and Jared Barnett.
