AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State basketball coach Fred Hoiberg says Bubu Palo will be out 6 to 8 weeks because of a fractured wrist.

The sophomore guard from Ames injured his wrist in Iowa State's (11-3) victory against Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 31. He played in the Cyclones' 77-71 win against Texas in the Big 12 opener for both teams on Wednesday.

Hoiberg says MRI results on Thursday confirmed a "slight crack" in Palo's shooting hand.

Palo, a former walk-on, was recently put on a scholarship. He has played in all 14 games this season, averaging 4.7 points and 2.1 assists.
