AMES, Iowa – The No. 24 Iowa State volleyball team dropped its Top 25 showdown with No. 22 Kansas 3-1 (21-25, 23-25, 25-22, 20-25) Wednesday night in Hilton Coliseum. The loss dropped the Cyclones to 17-7 overall on the season and 10-3 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks moved ahead of Iowa State into second place in the Big 12 standings and are now 21-6 overall and 11-3 in the conference.

Turning Points of the Match:
It has been said about Iowa State’s serving many times this season. The reason the Cyclones are the best serving team in the Big 12 and one of the best in the country is that they take chances. You can’t be a great serving team by hitting the ball lightly over the net preventing errors at all costs.

On Wednesday, two untimely service errors hit Iowa State late in the second set as Ciara Capezio gave away a 22-22 tie with a service error. After Tenisha Matlock got a kill to even the score again, it was Kristen Hahn who had the service error to give Kansas a set point, which they clinched when Tory Knuth’s slide move was stuffed by Tiana Dockery and Tayler Soucie.
