Iowa State Volleyball Aces Test Against TCU
AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State volleyball team produced one of the best serving performances of Christy Johnson-Lynch's tenure as head coach as the Cyclones used 13 service aces to defeat TCU 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 25-23) Saturday evening in front of a season-best crowd of 3,398 at Hilton Coliseum.
The win improved Iowa State to 12-6 overall and to a three-way tie for second in the Big 12 standings with Kansas and Oklahoma at 6-2 in the conference. The loss drops the Horned Frogs to 13-9 overall and 2-6 in the Big 12.
This match was all about serving and Iowa State served notice that the best serving team in the Big 12 was on call Saturday. As the Cyclones went on to win the first set 25-14, ISU posted six service aces. That was a higher total than ISU had in six previous matches this year, and in four other matches Iowa State had exactly six service aces.
Kristen Hahn tied her career-high for service aces in a match in the first set alone with three aces while Ciara Capezio added two and Tory Knuth kicked in an ace.
