AMES, Iowa (AP) — Former Iowa State cornerback Leonard Johnson has signed as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Johnson started 44 games for the Cyclones and had 247 tackles and six interceptions. Many thought he'd be selected in last week's NFL Draft, but Johnson was passed over.

Iowa State says former offensive lineman Hayworth Hicks has also signed a free agent deal.

Hicks will go to training camp with the Indianapolis Colts in hopes of landing a roster spot.
