AMES, Iowa - The New Orleans Saints announced Monday that they signed veteran free agent quarterback Seneca Wallace to a one-year contract.

Wallace, who was out of football last year, worked out for the Oakland Raiders last week.

He went 1-6 as a starter for the Cleveland Browns over two years but the team cut him during training camp last year.

Drew Brees' job security is not at stake. Wallace, 32, will compete against Luke McCown for the backup job. They are the only quarterbacks signed with the Saints.
